TanzaniaEast Africapap1
The project comprise of the following: (1) complete or initiate dredging of port of Mwanza to restore design depths of generally around 6 m on approach to, in anchorage and along Berths; (2) establish a watercourse management system to minimize soil erosion and sedimentation at ports; and (3) rehabilitating or establishing of areas and ramps to accommodate vehicles (in particular MAFI trailers and forklifts) involved with RoRo operations at ports.
The IAS faces multiple constraints; in particular difficulties of access to water resources related to the excessive depth (over 600 m) in some regions. Moreover, the lack of sub-regional strategic water resources management has led to changes in aquifer hydro-dynamics and water quality degradation. It constitutes the main perennial resource of potable water and a strategic resource for the sustainable development of the concerned countries.
ICTI.02.22.01Burkina Faso-Benin Fibre-optic Link (Burkina Faso section)
Benin, Burkina FasoWest Africapap1
Burkina Faso is already connected to all its neighbors, with the exception of Benin, which is already present in Porga (Border with Burkina). Thus, the realization of this link is fully integrated into PIDA PAP 2020 and the ECOWAS Regional Connectivity Integration Strategy, which has made the development of broadband infrastructure among Member States a priority. This link will be integrated into the network currently being deployed as part the National Backbone Telecommunications Project (PBNT), of which Fada N'Gourma is a main node of the national and international transmission network.
The section goes from Fada N'Grouma to Benin border at Porga where the physical interconnection of the optical cables will be realized with Benin Telecoms.
The passive infrastructure includes two HDPE tubes, one of which will contain a 36-core G.652D cable. The length of the network is 160 km. The transmission network is IP-MPLS over OTN over DWDM with a transport capacity at the installation of 100 G. One point of presence will be created halfway to Pama.
Develop the Kampala Bombo Expressway to facilitate mobility and trade between Kampala and the major towns of Bombo,Masindi, Kigumba and Gulu, as well as to the neighbouring countries of Sudan and the DRC.
The name ZIZABONA was derived by taking the first two letters of the following country names: Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia. It is a 400/330kV Interconnector line envisaged to establish the required infrastructure to interconnect the countries as indicated above. The project will enable the wheeling of power north south or vice versa via the Zambezi HVDC Link. The ZIZABONA project components include a direct line from Mukuni (previosuly known as Livingstone) to Zambezi together with a radial connection from Victoria Falla to Pandamatenga.
The project consists of the construction of the following key transmission lines;
Zimbabwe (Hwange) - Zambia Livingstone (Mukuni) - 101km (Hwange to border) and 14km (border to Mukuni)
Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls) - Botswana (Pandamatenga) - 76km
Zambia (Mukuni) - Namibia (Zambezi) - 231km

The project entails the installation of the Zambia section of the 600 km fibre-optic link between Lusaka and Lilongwe: from Lusaka to the border with Malawi.
The AXIS Project aims to facilitate the development of an African internet infrastructure through policy and regulatory reform, capacity building and technical assistance. Development of an African internet infrastructure refers to the establishment of regional internet exchange points (IXPs) and internet carriers.
The AXIS Project is being implemented through two phases. Phase I consists of capacity building to support the establishment of national IXPs through providing a series of two workshops for stakeholders and the Internet Service Provider Association (ISPA) on I) best practice and benefits of IXP and II) technical assistance through workshops which will cover the technical and administrative skills needed to set up, operate, and administer an IXP.
Phase II focuses on supporting establishment of Regional IXP and Regional Internet Carrier through provisioning Capacity building workshops on best practice and benefits of setting up RIXP/IC and providing technical assistance.
The AXIS Project is a flagship project of the African Regional Action Plan on Knowledge Economy (ARAPKE) endorsed by the African Union Executive Council.
The Burkina Faso Exchange Point was set up through the AXIS and ISOC Skills Building Program and the World Bank through WARCIP (West Africa Regional Communications Infrastructure Program) for acquisition, installation and configuration IXP equipments and the layout of the technical room.
A non-profit association bringing together operators, internet service providers and research centers is set up to exploit and develop the platform. The association is called BFIX (http://www.bfix.bf/)
The project forms part of the upgrading of the 1,200 km of narrow gauge railway between Abidjan and Ouagadougou. In particular it involves the section in Burkina Fasso, from the border with Ivory Coast to Ouagadougou.

The project is code named "ANNA" meaning the interconnection between Angola and Namibia. The proposed interconnector involves the construction of power transmission routed via the proposed Baynes Hydropower Plant in Lower Kunene, Namibia, to link the Namibian and Angolan electricity networks in the north western part of Namiiba and the southern part of Angola.
Reconstruction of the cargo and passenger transport system on the Beira-Machipanda railway line, linking the provinces of Sofala and Manica to neighbouring Zimbabwe, via the Machipanda border post, will once again allow people and goods to travel, particularly rural workers along the Beira corridor. This section of railway is of particular importance to Mozambique as it is expected to offer greater dynamism to the strategy of linking different development hubs in the country and neighbouring regions, and improve efficiency in transporting passengers and cargo between points along the railway.
