Ethiopia, SudanNorth-Eastern AfricaIGAD
Construction of a transmission line (580 km / 500 kV) that connects the power networks of Ethiopia and Sudan to facilitate trading in electricity and promote power systems stability. The interconnector will have a transmission capacity of 3000 MW.
The Project also includes two new, 500kV capacitated substations at Rabak and Jebel Aulia (both in Sudan), and power line bay extensions at the following existing substations: Grand Renaissance (500kV Ethiopia), Rabak (220kV, Sudan) and Jebel Aulia (220kV, Sudan).Â
Construction of a 500kV transmission line and the associated substations that connects the power networks of Ethiopia and Sudan to facilitate trading in electricity and promote power systems stability. The line will be 580 km in total, 564 km in Sudan, terminating in Khartoum, 16 km in Ethiopia, terminating at the Grand Renaissance Dam. The Project also includes two new, 500 kV capacitated substations at Rabak and Jebel Aulia (both in Sudan), and power line bay extensions at the following existing substations: Grand Renaissance (500kV Ethiopia), Rabak (220kV, Sudan) and Jebel Aulia (220kV, Sudan).
It is expected that the project would assist the two partners to obtain the following specific benefits: to promote power system stability in the countries concerned; to promote energy connectivity among the countries by assisting them to integrate their respective networks and thereby develop ability for building larger power projects to meet larger regional markets; to develop ability to negotiate better terms for procurement of power equipment and technical assistance; to reduce the cost of power in both countries; in the long term, complete integration of the power systems in Egypt and Sudan; and to create productive employment and economic development across the borders. The main objectives of the project include provision of transmission capacity to cater for grid interconnection between Egypt and Sudan, provision of transmission infrastructure to cater for future grid interconnections to other countries, promotion of regional cooperation through sharing of power generation resources and facilitation of rural electrification and improve the standard of living for the population in project areas
ZiZaBoNa creates a new Western Transmission Corridor in Southern Africa, by linking the power systems of Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia. This part of the project is the first phase of the bigger ZiZaBoNa project and involves the construction of a 101 km / 330 kV transmission interconnector from Hwange Power Station to Victoria Falls Substation in Zimbabwe and construction of the 14km Victoria Falls to Livingstone cross-border link with a transmission capacity of 300 MW.
WaterLomahasha / Namaacha Cross Border Potable Water Supply Project
Eswatini, MozambiqueSouthern Africa
Preparation of preliminary/detailed designs and construction of Phase II of Lomahasha and Siteki (Phase II in Swaziland),and Namaacha Water Supply Project. This phase will ensure water supply to the Lomahasha area in Swaziland and extending it to the Namaacha town in Mozambique through a memorandum of understanding for supply of water to communities residing along common borders of the two countries. It aims to supply a total population of 100 000 people with a safe drinking water supply and sanitation service as well as irrigating 1,000 hectares of land. The project aims to: - Improve health of the residents; - Promote economic activity; - Create employment opportunities; - Increase food security and reduction of poverty; and - Provide additional revenue for the water utilities. The project began as the Siteki Lomahasha water supply project, funded under the Government of Swaziland capital projects budget. Due to the financial constraints, the Corporation concentrated on the Siteki component which is now almost complete. Fiscal constraints also resulted in the suspension of the Lomahasha component, pending further identification of infrastructure funding possibilities.

The Lobito Dry Port is a major logistics platform under development in Angola, designed to serve as a critical inland container depot (ICD) and transshipment hub for the Lobito Corridor. The project involves the construction of a dry port facility with a planned warehousing area of 10,000 hectares. Key components include container yards, customs facilities, bonded warehouses, cargo handling equipment, and road/rail connectivity to the Port of Lobito. The project is a key component of the broader Lobito Corridor development, which connects the Angolan coast to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Zambia.
The Lobito Port Upgrading project is a major infrastructure initiative in Angola aimed at modernizing and expanding the Port of Lobito to increase its capacity and efficiency. The project scope includes the expansion of the port area by 80,000 m2, the upgrading of existing dry dock facilities, and the construction of a new mineral terminal covering 150,000 m2 to serve the Lobito Corridor's mining exports. Key technical components involve deepening the access channel and berths, installing new cargo handling equipment (including gantry cranes), and constructing modern warehouses and container yards. The project is a critical node in the Lobito Atlantic Corridor, linking the port to the interior of Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and Zambia.

The AXIS Project aims to facilitate the development of an African internet infrastructure through policy and regulatory reform, capacity building and technical assistance. Development of an African internet infrastructure refers to the establishment of regional internet exchange points (IXPs) and internet carriers.
The AXIS Project is being implemented through two phases. Phase I consists of capacity building to support the establishment of national IXPs through providing a series of two workshops for stakeholders and the Internet Service Provider Association (ISPA) on I) best practice and benefits of IXP and II) technical assistance through workshops which will cover the technical and administrative skills needed to set up, operate, and administer an IXP.
Phase II focuses on supporting establishment of Regional IXP and Regional Internet Carrier through provisioning Capacity building workshops on best practice and benefits of setting up RIXP/IC and providing technical assistance.
The AXIS Project is a flagship project of the African Regional Action Plan on Knowledge Economy (ARAPKE) endorsed by the African Union Executive Council.
The project entails the construction of a 200 km, 400 kV(initially 220 kV) power line from Matambo substation, in Mozambique, to Phombeya, north of Blantyre.
