The 8th Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) Week recently concluded with a resounding commitment to accelerate infrastructure transformation across the continent. Held under the theme\u00a0\u201cPutting Africa on a Firm Footing for Recovery, Growth, and Resilience Through World-Class Infrastructure,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0the event brought together key stakeholders, including government officials, private sector representatives, development partners, and regional economic communities.<\/p>\n

Organized by the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) in collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Development Bank (AfDB), the week-long event served as a platform to discuss critical infrastructure projects under PIDA. These projects align with the goals of Agenda 2063, Africa\u2019s blueprint for sustainable development and economic prosperity.<\/p>\n

Participants emphasized the importance of infrastructure in driving Africa\u2019s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and building resilience against future shocks. Key discussions focused on energy, transport, ICT, and transboundary water projects, which are essential for fostering regional integration, boosting trade, and improving connectivity.<\/p>\n

A highlight of the event was the strong call for increased public-private partnerships (PPPs) to mobilize funding for infrastructure development.
