Bujumbura-Bugarama road is in a superficial coated belayer last rehabilitation which took place in 1992. Tread has 6 m wide with 1.25 m on each side for the shoulders. It is a stretch of the northern corridor linking Burundi to other countries of the East African Community via Rwanda and Uganda. The Bujumbura-Bugarama stretch currently receives almost all the traffic of the central corridor and the northern corridor.
<p>The Bugarama- Bujumbura road is about 35 km on the RN1, and forms part of the Central Corridor.</p>
<p>The upgrade will increase traffic movement and capacity between Bukumbura and Bugarama, and reduce transport time and cost on the Central Corridor.</p>
