Project Overview

Luanda - Kinshasa Fibre-optic Link (DRC section) is a terrestrial digital-connectivity project serving Angola and Democratic Republic of Congo. It seeks to increase international bandwidth and route resilience through fibre cable, transmission equipment and cross-border interconnection facilities. The DRC section of the Luanda–Kinshasa fibre corridor remained at feasibility in the latest confirmed information. No route-specific construction or commissioning milestone was confirmed by end-2025.

Description

<p>Project will be executed and operated by the two countries national FO telecom companies : SCPT (DRC) and Angola Cables (ANG). A joint planning meeting was held in Kinshasa in 2017. Financing partners are now being approached.</p>

Objectives

<p>To provide broadband connectivity to the South, South-west and Centre of DRC, also to secure a back up (redundancy) connection on the existing links.</p>
