Lusaka - Kinshasa Fibre-optic Link (Zambia section) is a terrestrial digital-connectivity project serving Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia. It seeks to increase international bandwidth and route resilience through fibre cable, transmission equipment and cross-border interconnection facilities. The Zambian section of the Lusaka–Kinshasa fibre link is reported operational, forming the cross-border route toward the DRC. Current capacity and service performance require operator confirmation.
<p>The project involves the construction of a fibre optic network from Lusaka to Kasumbalesa a town at the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).</p>
<p>The Project is expected to bridge the gap in access to essential communication servoces through improved quality and cheaper broadband services.</p>
