This project will rehabilitate and operationalise 12 automatic hydrometric stations in São Tomé and Príncipe. It combines station maintenance and calibration, satellite communication, data processing, institutional strengthening and community measures to improve flood warning, watershed management and climate resilience.
São Tomé and Príncipe has 12 automatic hydrometric stations that require maintenance, calibration, reliable communications and improved data management to operate effectively. The project will restore the network, provide satellite communication and field equipment, strengthen the legal and institutional framework for hydrology, improve staff capacity and data processing, and support community awareness and surveillance to reduce vandalism and improve flood and watershed monitoring.
Make the 12 hydrometric stations fully operational; improve hydrological data collection, transmission and processing; strengthen the legal, institutional and human-resource basis of the hydrology service; support flood and river-overflow alerts; improve watershed and water-resource management; increase public awareness and community surveillance; and strengthen national climate resilience.
