The project will deliver:
(i) Reduced transport costs for landlocked EAC states (Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi) and neighbouring countries like DRC, by shifting cargo from long road hauls to lake shipping.
(ii) Improved lake transport operations - more reliable schedules, safer routes, better intermodal links (road/rail/port).
(iii) Increased investment in:
- port and maritime infrastructure,
- modern cargo and passenger vessels,
- tourism and water sports around the lake.
(iv) A safer navigation and security environment (fewer accidents, better emergency response).
The project will deliver:
