Construction of Petroleum Jetty and Associated Storage Facilities at Albion, Mauritius

PIDA Code: T.IW.26.03

Project Overview

The Albion Petroleum Jetty and Associated Storage Facilities project is a PAP II project for a dedicated petroleum import, storage and bunkering facility at Albion, Mauritius.

Description

The project concept is for a dedicated petroleum jetty and associated storage facilities at Albion, potentially supporting large-tanker berthing, petroleum imports, storage, bunkering and regional trading functions.

The project must be distinguished from the existing Mauritius Ports Authority oil jetty at Mer Rouge, Port Louis. Operating statistics, dimensions, throughput or investments relating to Port Louis cannot be applied to Albion unless an official scope decision confirms relocation or integration.

No current official decision, land confirmation, procurement, financial close or construction evidence was identified for Albion. The project remains active in the portfolio, but the current reportable stage is S1 pending owner confirmation of whether the proposal remains active, has been relocated or has been superseded.

Objectives

Develop a dedicated and safe petroleum-import and storage facility at Albion; improve national fuel-supply resilience and handling capacity; support efficient tanker and bunkering operations; and position Mauritius for possible regional petroleum logistics services, subject to confirmed project scope and approval.
