The Bou Salem-Algerian Border Motorway is the approximately 80 km Tunisian missing link required to connect Tunisia's motorway network with Algeria and complete the central Trans-Maghreb Motorway Axis. It will extend from Bou Salem in Jendouba Governorate to the Algerian border.
The project reports an original investment cost of TND 2.260 billion, which the source equates to USD 805.27416 million. The Union for the Mediterranean continues to identify design completion and fundraising preparation as outstanding.
The project will construct approximately 80 km of dual-carriage motorway between Bou Salem and the Tunisian-Algerian border. Together with the Oujda-Algerian-border link in Morocco, it will close the principal missing sections of the central Trans-Maghreb Motorway Axis.
The project is intended to improve continuity between Tunisian and Algerian motorway networks, reduce travel times and accident risk, facilitate cross-border movement and strengthen regional trade and economic integration.
