The Project objective is to improve the livelihoods of agro-pastoralists and pastoralists living in the counties around Kapoeta town while reducing environmental degradation in the headwater regions of the Cingaineta River. The project will carry out pre-feasibility and feasibility studies to investigate options for the development and management of the water resources of the Chingaineta River with a view to provide a more reliable water source for those living in and around Kapoeta, which is located along this river. The project will be multipurpose in nature, and assess how the development of water resources can also support aquaculture, livestock watering and small-scale irrigation development. The project will also have a component for capacity building of institutions at national, state and payem levels in integrated water resources management and development.</p>
