Objectives

<p>The objective of the project is to conduct studies to support the recognition of the Sudan part of the wadis as a UNESCO Man and Biosphere (MAB) Reserve. The project has three components: (a) baseline survey covering all aspects of the physical environment; an inventory of the flora and fauna and their habitats; the socio-cultural and livelihood aspects of the resident population; archeological and historical aspects; and other relevant information; (b) a medium term research programme implemented by Sudanese on huma-environment interactions; (c) eco-tourism study; and (d) support to transboundary collaboration for a transboundary Biosphere Reserve.</p>
