Grand Inga and associated transmission evacuation

Project Overview

In 2013 RSA and the DRC signed a treaty to develop this project. The Grand Inga project is a planned hydro power station in the DRC. It is planned to be developed in about 7 phases of between 5000-7000 MW each. The first phase- the current phase is called Grand 3. It comprises a power station of about 4 800 MW plus transmission lines to target markets. The target markets are Kinshasa (800 MW); Katanga (1300 MW) and RSA (2500 MW).
